Our Very First HOME!!

What a DREAM Come True For Us!

Finally I am going to tell you all about the amazing story of how we found our house and got it :)

We have been looking at homes for YEARS, before we even got married!  When we were dating, one of our favorite dates was spent going on drives to look at houses in our most Favorite small towns like: Gunlock, Kanarraville & New Harmony (we did this a Lot)!  Dreaming of a home together began in 2005 and has progressed every year until now!  But when we started looking for Real was in December 2008 (when Justin was 8 months old) and that is when we looked at our first home with a Realtor and guess where that was?....  Yup New Harmony!!!  It was pretty cute, almost perfect, but not quite there (it needed some remondeling bad) and was close to the freeway.  The price was pretty pricey for the house. So we moved on and waited a few more years before looking hard again.

Then after having 2 kids, pregnant with our 3rd & living in my "Bangerter" grandparents 2 bedroom, one bath basement apartment "winter" home for close to 4 years we decided we REALLY need to make the big jump and find a bigger place to live and buy our first home before baby #3 comes!

So in January 2011, we were getting ready to go shopping again!  And once again we found and looked at another house with a Realtor in New Harmony on February 18th.  I liked it a lot, but Matt didn't at ALL!! lol  There were just too many things he didn't like about it that would be really difficult/close to impossible to fix to his liking.  It was a great price, in the best neighborhood & had a Ginormous greenhouse in the backyard, but that still wasn't enough to sell Matt.  So we walked away from it, in hopes to find something better.

.... Well that we did and we didn't even have walk very far, more like across the street on the corner!! haha  Yup, when leaving the 2nd New Harmony house we found "THE" house (side note: we have drove past this house lots in the past and it was Always our most favorite)!!  But the funny thing was, it wasn't even on the market just yet, no for sale sign or nothing!!  I just noticed it looked very empty and seen a winterized orange sticker on the front door.  So I told Matt and he thought yup, it looks like maybe a foreclosure.  So we both looked at each other and jumped out of the truck to go have a quick peek through the windows,  well it was indeed empty and we even found the back door unlocked!!  So we helped ourselves right on in :)  And we Both fell in Love with it right away!!!  It was Perfect!

We wrote down the address and went home jumped on the Internet to try and find it posted for sale, but couldn't find it anywhere!  So we called Sam (my dad's Realtor) and told him we found a house and wanted him to find out more about it.  And that he did, he jumped right on it and every small piece of information he found on it led to more and eventually the house came on the Market to buy on March 8th, so we went to go look at the 3rd and last home with a Realtor Sam, in our select prime town New Harmony and yup we were still madly in love with everything about it!!  I guess the third times a charm- just like they say ;)

Well we found our "Dream Home", waited for it to come on the market and the next job (that should have been our first job) was to go to the Bank and see if and what we qualify for on a house to buy!
That part was left all up to me to take care of it, since Matt was working out of town all week long and was only home during the weekends when the main bank is closed.  So I gathered everything I needed and met with the bank lady and my dad to see what we could afford.  Well it took FOREVER to get it all together- like weeks for it to get final and finished!  We were getting SO nervous that the house would sell before we could even make an offer on it (cause it was that nice and good priced), but it didn't.
So finally we thought long and hard, even prayed and pondered about the big decision and it felt so right for us so we made our first offer on April 2nd, it wasn't much but all we could afford and our offer was Much less then the asking price!  But all we could do is wait and hope it was enough!

A couple days later we got a phone call saying that there was another offer put in the same day we put in ours and was wanting to see how much more we could put in to get the house.  But we couldn't offer anymore then we had the first time.  We were at our limit!!  So we told our Realtor that and he said well I'll just put the original offer back in to them and see what happens, it's better then doing nothing he said and that way it still keeps you in the bidding game and chance for the house as slim as it was.  So we said go for it.  What else can we do except cross our fingers & say a big prayer!   :(

And on April 12th I got the best phone call EVER- Sam (Realtor)  called saying with excitement and surprise that the bank accepted our offer!!!!  Right then I started to cry and couldn't even talk, I was BEYOND surprised about the great news that we got the house!!!!   I was at my mom's at the time of the call and she was watching me and instantly knew the good news before I could even talk back to him, cause of my shocked look!   That was one of the most Exciting phone calls of my life!!  I told him thank you thank you and hung up and called Matt right away to tell him the exciting news!!  HE was super exited!!

So after waiting a good long time to get paid from a Very big paying job, we got to make it official and signed the house papers on May 18th and that day we became FIRST HOME OWNERS!!  That is why we most likely got the house is cause we were first time home buyers :)  And they like to give to people like us first!  Pretty Freakin Sweet I say!!!! =D

Our Prayers and dreams were answered!!  We got the carpets washed and had the bug spray guy come that weekend, started painting the kids rooms & master bedroom that following week and started moving in on 27th (the weekend) and spent our first night in the house Sunday May 29th!!!!

Justin and Kaylee went with us lots to look at the house before we bought it to see how they liked it and let me say:  They made themselves right at home and started calling it home before we even put in our offer.  They love their new home and have had no problem adjusting to the new change!  They finally get their own room and love having the space to play and make messes!! lol  Their bedrooms are right next to each other, that part I like and so do they :)
